Crisis ends as Zico rings changes


After a meeting with FA officials on Monday, Zico has declared his commitment to Asood Al-Rafidain for another year and made changes in his 27 man squad for the World Cup qualifying clash with Japan on September 11 in Saitama. The Brazilian confirmed that problems with the FA and his salary had been resolved and would begin training from August 25.

The Iraq FA had named a 32 man preliminary squad for the World Cup qualifier in Saitama but after talks were held with Zico on Monday, the Brazilian has selected five new players David Haider of Hallescher FC, Ali Abdul-Jabar (Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya), Khaldoun Ibrahim (Al-Zawraa), Samar Saeed (Al-Naft) and Hussam Ibrahim (Al-Shurta)
