Hakim Shaker: The First Half coach

Hakim Shaker the coach of the youth team, who calls himself ‘the emergency coach’ of the national team has been in charge for six matches as coach of the senior team, winning two, drawing two and losing two, a win percentage of 33%. In those six matches, he has earned the nickname of mudarab short alawal ‘the first half coach’ because in each of matches he has taken charge of, his side has won the game based on his starting formation. In that time he has switched from the 4-5-1 formation, to 4-4-2 and then to 4-3-3 and against Tunisia yesterday he returned his usual 4-5-1. None of his tactical changes or substitutions in the second half have had any effect on the outcome of a game so if the coach can somehow manage to discover the ability to read a game and make match-winning changes then maybe Iraq can win some more matches. His biggest test will come at the Gulf Cup.
