Winter transfer window: Al-Shurta, Al-Jawiya and Arbil sign new players

Al-Shurta have confirmed the signing of Nigerian forward Minusu Bandros Buba. The striker last played in Egypt for El-Gouna before the 2010-2011 league season was suspended by the Egyptian Football Association.

The 28 year-old had netted nine goals in 15 games for the Egyptian club and has represented four other clubs in Egypt. He topped the Egyptian league goalscorers chart in season 2009-2010 after netting 14 goals while playing for Ittihad El-Shorta.

He will join the Police Club at the start of January and will be free to play in the Iraq league after the winter transfer window re-opens in February. Buba is the third foreign player signed by the Iraqi club this season.

Baghdad rivals Al-Quwa Al-Jawiya (Air Force) have signed two Africans, defender Jean-Paul Ndjoumeck Ndeki (Cameroon) and defensive midfielder Esono Ben Mamadou Konaté (Equatorial Guinea). They will become the first foreigners in the club’s history to play for the Blue Falcons.

Ndeki, 30, has played in the lower divisions in Germany and in Lativa and China. He last played for Cypriot second division side AEP Paphos in the 2010-2011 season. 26 year-old Ben Konaté, who was born in Abidjan in the Ivory Coast, has played ten times for Equatorial Guinea from 2008, and for clubs in the Ivory Coast, Morocco and in Equatorial Guinea. His last club was The Panthers.
