Iraq FA ‘We don’t want to play Armenia but we’ll play Azerbaijan’

The Iraq FA apologised to match organisers Match World Group on their inability to play the friendly on May 25 against Armenia in Yerevan because of the Iraqi league schedule. That’s a new one, we cancel a friendly with Armenia but are prepared to send a team to the West Bank for an unofficial tournament, which will certainly disrupt the Iraqi league.

The Iraq FA is reportedly considering an offer to play Azerbaijan at the beginning of August. Great planning from the Iraqi FA officials, can’t wait for the reason why we’ll be playing teams from the old Soviet Union, I can just hear them now ‘Azerbaijan play similar to Australia or Jordan’.

They should be planning matches with New Zealand, or at least play friendlies in Australia.
